Coastal Shipping Seminar 2021 - Wednesday 15th September

The British Ports Association’s annual Coastal Shipping Seminar returns for 2021, with a fascinating speaker line-up formed of ports, shipping lines, and UK business.

Attendees will gain new insights into coastal shipping, look at the barriers faced by industry and consider the solutions, and learn how coastal shipping can revolutionise the green supply chain.

Virtual PMSC Duty Holder Awareness Webinar Monday 27th September 2021

We have organised a Virtual PMSC Duty Holder Awareness Webinar training session. The workshop will be taking place online.

The virtual training webinar is an opportunity for Duty Holders such as board members to familiarise themselves with the principles of the Port Marine Safety Code and its Guide to Good Practice. The awareness training will provide attendees with an overview of the Code and its guiding principles, including legislative duties and powers, key organisations appointments such as the Designated Person, and the expectation that Duty Holders will publish a safety plan for marine operations. This training will be delivered online with the connection link emailed to you.

The webinars are free for BPA members and there is no limit on how many duty holders from a single port can attend a seminar. For non BPA members, it will cost £30 +VAT to attend.

Gateways to Growth launch at IMO during LISW

The British Ports Association is pleased to invite you to a joint reception with the UK Chamber of Shipping to launch a new video highlighting the value of the ports and shipping sectors. The BPA and Chamber have each partnered with ASN Media to produce two news and current affairs style programmes describing the story of the industry’s transformative journey to a sustainable future.

The launch also coincides with the start of LISW and is being hosted in the stunning location of the International Maritime Organization.
This event is free to attend and drinks and canapés will be provided. Please use the registration link provide to book your place.

The ports feature, ‘Gateways to Growth’ is presented by Dr Tessa Dunlop (BBC, Discovery, History Channel, Channel 5), and the UK Chamber programme ‘Making Waves: The Future of Shipping’ is presented by Rob Bell (BBC, Channel 5, Travel Channel).

The programmes will explore progress in green technology & fuels, automation, efficiencies, digitisation, collaboration, market-based measures and lobbying efforts for further regulation. It will provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices, whilst raising awareness on these critical issues and in turn, inspire the next generation.

The evening events are as follows:

  • 19:05 - Premier screening
  • 19:35 - Panel discussion and Q&A with representation from IMO, the UK Chamber and BPA
  • 19:55 - Drinks

Please be advised that upon entry at the IMO, our hosts require attendees to provide proof of double vaccination or participates to have had a negative lateral flow test within the previous 24hrs. We will also be observing hygiene rules and to ensure the event is as safe as is possible.
